How is 4 color flexographic printing different from digital printing?

Flexographic printing requires the printer to set up “printing plates”. These plates allow labels to be replicated for less cost per unit. Digital printing is better for short run print jobs because there are no plates but the per unit cost is slightly higher so the benefit dimishes as the number of labels increase. Digital printing is also beneficial when you have multiple SKUs and you need a relatively small number of each SKU. In these types of cases, digital really saves you money. What is the right adhesive for my label?

Adhesives vary widely from general purpose to those designed to adhere in cold temperatures, stick to food items, be tamper evident, removable and many other varieties. Our experience with many different types of labels can help provide you with the perfect solution that works and adheres correctly to what you want it to.

How do I choose the right medium (paper) for my label?

The right label medium will be durable, cost effective and will have a shelf life to suit what you need. Here are the most common types of label papers: gloss, semi gloss, foil, thermal, tag stock, bopp, litho matte, etc. Plastic films, label media, polypropelyne, metalized polypropelyne, vinyl, thermal transfer, etc are also common choices. Our guidance on label paper, paired with our experience will result in a high quality label at the right price. In fact we will take it to the next level. We will provide you with samples of the different papers so that you can test the results for any custom situation.

What types of artwork are acceptable? Can I use my own logo for labels?

Of course! We can use most types of artwork. That’s said, for best results and for the least cost, it is STRONGLY recommended that you use artwork that was made on adobe Photoshop or AI. By using these tools and saving the artwork as a vector file, you can make it possible for us to get good results when you are printing your labels. We also recommend that you pay attention to the amount of small type in your labels. Too small of type can look blurry and illegible. How long does it take to print labels?

The correct answer is “It depends.” We pride ourselves in being able to help you out in a pinch with FAST and FRIENDLY service. How many labels per roll should I get?

For machine labeling, each machine has a maximum roll diameter. When your label machine is set up this should be given to you. If you give us that measurement, we can take it from there. The number of labels per roll will depend on the size of each label. Most of the time this is 1000 per roll. Getting this correct is critical and will save you from needlessly stopping your production line to set up again. For hand labeling you can choose the amount you would like that best fits your labeling needs.
